Each year a new book is released, with the first book starting Thanksgiving night, and the last book ending Christmas morning. The fifth book will be released in 2022, the sixth book will be released in 2023 and the seventh book will be released in 2024.
In 2018, First Lady Melania Trump selected Oliver the Ornament to be read at Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. This continued a 75-year tradition begun by Bess Truman and carried out by every First Lady since. Then in 2019, Mrs. Trump selected Oliver the Ornament Meets Bell to be read at the event. This marked the first time in history that one author has had more than one book read at this historic event. In 2020, Mrs. Trump continued the tradition by reading Oliver the Ornament Meets Marley & Joan and Abbey.
